“Forget the things that happened in the past. Do not keep thinking about them. I am about to do something new for you. It is beginning to happen now. Don’t you see it coming?” Isaiah 43:18-19
I tend to dwell on things. It’s hard for me to let go of the past. My mind keeps thinking about what I’ve done wrong and I wallow in regret.
This was the old me before God entered my life. I didn’t know there is a different and better way to live.
The enemy of my soul tricked me for many years. He reminded me of my sins and told me I was no good to anybody because I had messed up too many times. Stupid was what he called me and I believed him. He shamed me over and over until I couldn’t see a purpose for living.
Satan, my enemy almost convinced me with his lies. But God intervened. The Lord took care of me when I was not aware of danger. I was in great need and he saved me. God paid special attention to me. I called out to him in sorrow and sadness. And he heard me. He rescued me from the enemy’s stronghold so I can be here today to encourage you.
Friends, God created you. He says you belong to him. You are priceless to him! Regardless of how badly you think you’ve messed up, God still has a purpose for your life. Don’t dwell on the past. Stop thinking about what you did wrong because it is wasted effort. You can’t change the past but you don’t have to live with regret either.
There is a different and better way to live. Don’t believe the lies of the enemy. He wants to beat you down and shame you. To deceive you so you will give up. But this isn’t a part of your story. God has great plans for your life and the world needs what you have to contribute.
God is paying special attention to you. He loves and honors you. He is about to do something new for you. It is happening now!
Start the New Year by inviting God into your life and watch him do new things in you and for you!
